The Rhino’s John Hammer saw this coming, as I guess would anyone with some common sense (not necessarily yours truly)—BH Media partners the Greensboro News & Record and the Winston-Salem Journal have officially they will be writing one editorial for both newspapers:

Effective this week, the opinion pages of the Winston-Salem Journal and the News & Record of Greensboro have begun to pool resources and some of our content.

As part of that effort, we will share editorials about regional, state and some national topics.

At the same time, we recognize the important and distinctive role each newspaper plays in its community. That won’t change. We will preserve the individual voices of each paper on local issues in each city.

…We’ll have a little fun once in a while, and offer different takes on the same theme from the Greensboro and Winston-Salem points of view.

Silly me, I pictured N&R ed page editor Allen Johnson typing his fingers to the bone churning out all the N&R’s editorials after his fellow editorial writer Doug Clark got snagged in this week’s layoffs. By the way, still no mention of the layoffs in the N&R; good thing the paper’s press awards—including Best Editorial Page (oh the irony) were able to provide a distraction.
