The Virginia horror was once legal and was especially bad in North Carolina

People are rightly horrified by this news out of Virginia that a doctor performed hysterectomies on women without their consent. But last century, forced involuntary sterilization was official state policy in Virginia, North Carolina, and other states.

You might be a ‘progressive’ if …

… you call yourself “pro-choice” on abortion but are furious over the very idea of a Christian pregnancy resource charity being next to an abortion clinic and want the government to stop it. It is your choice to call yourself “pro-choice,” but to make that choice when you’re opposed…

You might be a progressive if …

… you think the only thing worse than a poor neighborhood losing a grocery store would be a poor neighborhood gaining a Wal–Mart, a Family Dollar, or a select few other stores that excel at providing goods to the poor (they’re on the list alongside…

You might be a “progressive” if …

… you have a rapidly expanding Enemies’ List of fast-food restaurants. One wishes to counsel perspective, but it is necessarily absent for enforcers of the dictates of Everything Is Political.
