The 2021 National Education Association (NEA) Representative Assembly begins on June 30.  Union leaders have posted new business items, proposed constitutional amendments, policy statements, and other items under consideration by NEA members next week.

Among those items is a proposal to require NEA President Becky Pringle to write a letter to UNC-Chapel Hill “in support of the author of ‘The 1619 Project’, Nikole Hannah-Jones earning tenure and expressing disappointment and displeasure that the University bent to the pressures of white supremacy in denying her tenure.”
