Voter ID laws have long been popular with the general public.
It turns out that local election officials also support voter ID:
Among reform policies, requiring the use of photo identification stands out; it is supported most strongly by local election officials (77 percent) and by the public (68 percent), and it is an area of greatest agreement between these groups.
The only other election reform supported by a majority of election administrators was consolidating local, state, and federal elections with 51% support (likely due to the cost savings of having to run one general election every two years).
Other reforms did not fair as well with minorities of election officials supporting all-mail elections (42%), same-day voter registration on election day (39%), and online voting (13%).
