Cooper Wants to Eliminate Scholarship for Low-Income Children

Dem. Governor Roy Cooper announced his budget proposal today for the next biennium. His proposed budget ends the NC Opportunity Scholarship Program, a popular scholarship for low-income, disproportionately minority, students to attend a K-12 school of their parent’s choice.

The Opportunity Scholarship program is a popular program with NC voters. An NC poll last year found that two-thirds of likely North Carolina voters either support or strongly support the Opportunity Scholarship program.
