*N.C. Association of Educators (NCAE) not included.

Here is the latest from State Auditor Beth Wood:

As far as the NCAE is concerned, Wood explained, “The State Auditor’s Office does not have the authority to compel employees’ associations (private entities) to provide this type of information. For instance, the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE) refused to furnish the information based on the premise of lack of authority.”

Interestingly, the NCAE increased the number of members on payroll deduction from 5,391 last year to 6,083 this year.  This may reflect an overall increase in membership, but to know for sure we would need access to data that the group refuses to furnish.
