James Ford and Amy White are members of the State Board of Education.

The core function of serving on the board is deliberation.  And members occasionally disagree about policies and information presented to them.  There is no evidence that racism lies at the core of disagreements between board members of a different race, ethnicity, or gender.

The exchange highlighted by N&O education reporter Keung Hui is simply a conversation between two members of the board who have different ideas about how to address school safety concerns.
