Do you know who you’re voting for?

Three of the seats on North Carolina’s highest court will be contested on the November ballot. Watch our Shaftesbury Society conversation and become an informed voter. We look at the impact of the Supreme Court on every North Carolinian, the significance of the Chief Justice, provide a brief profile of the candidate match-ups for the three contested seats, and discuss issues that will likely go before the court over the next two years.

This year’s races will have a lasting impact. The candidates who prevail will determine the philosophical trajectory of the court. But since the races are also partisan, the results will either harden the Democrats’ hold on the state Supreme Court (currently at 6 Democrats and 1 Republican) or increase the Republicans’ representation on the court.
