In “An Analysis of North Carolina’s Private School Landscape” Anna Egalite, M. Daniela Barriga, D.T. Stallings, and Emily Antoszyk provide tremendously useful data about North Carolina’s private schools, including private school density, diversity, demand, proximity, and testing.

Perhaps its most important contribution is its analysis of private school tuition in the state.  Egalite and her colleagues find that the median tuition charged in North Carolina private schools is $5,483.  The fiscal note prepared for the Opportunity Scholarship Program legislation estimated that “average private school tuition is $7,694 for the 2013-14 school year.”
