It’s official.

The Trump administration granted a one-year waiver to states that will open the door to the elimination of statewide testing for the 2019-2020 school year.  North Carolina lawmakers and state education officials should follow suit.  If they do, numerous test-based program requirements would require waivers from the N.C. General Assembly, as I explain here.

The next step is for the Trump administration to make this waiver permanent.
