N.C. still higher than median in state income taxes per person

North Carolina ranks No. 19 in the nation in state income taxes per person, according to the latest calculations from the Tax Foundation.

The state collects $1,177 in income taxes per person. New York ($2,877) levies the nation’s highest per-person state income tax burden. Seven states assess no income tax.
