Dan Forest releases his education plan

Gubernatorial candidate Dan Forest unveiled his education plan today.  There are four themes to the plan.

    • Expand the Opportunity Scholarship program to every N.C. family.
    • Level the playing field for high-quality charter schools
  • Four in the Door
    • A principal with full authority to hire and fire
    • An armed security guard
    • A computer science teacher
    • A trade professional
  • ACT Now
    • Boosting North Carolina’s performance on the ACT to No. 1 in the Southeast.
    • Requiring students to pass the U.S. citizenship exam before graduating.
    • Mandating background checks for teachers.
  • Learn and Earn
    • Create a career high school diploma.
    • Market our state’s dual enrollment and 2+2 plans.
    • Train guidance counselors in opportunities in apprenticeships and community colleges.
