News & Observer headline of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s appearance in Raleigh:

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says politicization of court is a trend that should stop

That’s something we should all be able to agree on, right? But note the example the N&O holds up:

Her comments come at a time when the Supreme Court is highly politicized. That includes Republicans’ stonewalling of Democratic President Barack Obama’s nominee to replace the late Antonin Scalia in 2016 as well as controversial court-packing proposals some Democratic presidential candidates support.

When you read the entire article, you’ll notice there’s a name missing—Brett Kavanaugh, who has been the victim of political hack jobs (putting it nicely) not once but twice now. I would be fair to the N&O and say it’s entirely possible —indeed probable—that Justice Ginsburg never mentioned her colleague. But since the N&O reporter took it upon himself to to provide examples of politicization of the Supreme Court, it’s odd he didn’t mention Kavanaugh. Then again, maybe it’s not.
