In a round table discussion of the “health care coverage gap,” Gov. Roy Cooper championed faith-based preschools.

Participants in the round table included Cassandra Brooks, who owns Little Believers Academies. Little Believers Academies provides a “loving, happy place for young children to learn and grow as we bridge the gap from home to school, in a Christian-based environment.”

Dr. Kenneth Tate, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and owner of Antioch Child Care Academy, also attended.  One of the goals of the preschool is to establish “cooperation by promoting courtesy, honesty, and Christian values.”

Parents in North Carolina are permitted to direct public funds to the preschool options that meet their needs, including faith-based and private preschools.  Around one-third of NC Pre-K classrooms are in private child care settings.
