In his recent op-ed for N.C. Policy Watch, Kris Nordstrom takes issue with the estimated cost of the teacher walkout demands publicized by the John Locke Foundation last week.

Nordstrom ignores the fact that all estimated costs for the NCAE’s list of “demands” came from analyses produced the Fiscal Research Division of the N.C. General Assembly.  (If you want confirmation of this, go to this News & Observer article and see for yourself.)  So, they are not “John Locke Foundation estimates,” but they are figures produced by the research entity that employed Kris until he was fired in 2016.

Below is the graphic that the John Locke Foundation produced in advance of the teacher walkout.  It clear specifies the data sources and our decision to include the $2.5 billion unfunded, which taxpayers would be on the hook for.
