A teacher group on Facebook recently featured a thread about the desire of some teachers to conduct an (illegal) strike in North Carolina. Apparently, they are inspired by the union representing Los Angeles Unified School District teachers, who are threatening to strike.
Leesville Road High School teacher Angela Scioli (who was recently featured in an Education Week article on teacher protests) acknowledged that Red4EdNC strives for “true union organizing.” Interestingly, there appears to be some animosity between activist teachers and the N.C. Association of Educators.
