Pete Kasperowicz of the Washington Examiner reports on a House Freedom Caucus leader’s response to likely Democratic investigations of the Trump administration.

Rep. Jim Jordan said Wednesday that Republicans need to be ready to fight tooth and nail to defend the Trump administration in the face of the coming wave of House Democratic investigations.

“We’ve gotta understand… the environment we’re going into is something we’ve never seen,” warned Jordan, R-Ohio, on Fox News.

“I mean, this is … the world of Cummings, Nadler, Schiff, Waters, Pelosi,” he said, naming prominent Democrats who will likely lead investigations into Trump. “They’ve got 80 investigations teed up.”

“We’re going to have to be prepared with the right attitude to come to this town and fight every single minute of every single day defending the truth as they’re attacking everybody,” Jordan added. “That’s the environment we’re going into.”

Democrats have made it clear they would reopen several investigations into the Trump administration once they take control of the House next year. Among other things, they want to explore Trump’s alleged ties to Russia that they say Republicans left unexplored, and look more closely at how Trump’s presidency might be enriching the businesses that Trump’s sons still run.
