The building housed Rex Hospital until 1980, when the hospital moved across town. A new request for proposals for office space tipped off Triangle Business Journal that the old property would likely soon be on the market. Because unemployment insurance is a joint effort of state and federal governments, proceeds from the sale will also be divided, though the exact division of funds has not been determined.
