LISTEN HERE: Head Locke Episode 025: Local Activism

Catch the latest Head Locke podcast episode here.

Former U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Tip O’Neill is credited with coining the phrase “all politics is local.” If Speaker O’Neill is correct, then all meaningful citizen activism is also local. Activism is not attendance at rallies, dinner parties, and precinct meetings with one’s ideological and political allies. Rather, it is the process of cultivating relationships to empower those whose interests and needs are affected knowingly and unknowingly by the political circumstances at hand.

Wake County, N.C., activist Joey Stansbury joins Terry to discuss the principles of successful activism, the state of local activism in North Carolina, and the use of technology and social media to conduct activism locally.
