How Much Is Enough?

The new state operating budget devotes more tax dollars to public education — $500 million more — and delivers an average 6.5% pay raise to teachers — the fifth pay raise in a row. Yet despite these facts, and despite the reality that taxpayer appropriations to public education dominate the state operating budget, Big Education advocates say it isn’t enough.
