The John Locke Foundation and Western Carolina University’s Center for the Study of Free Enterprise co-sponsored a panel discussion this week on the future of judicial selection in North Carolina.

Should we stick with partisan elections? Return to nonpartisan elections? Replace elections with an appointment process? Appointments by the governor? Appointments by the General Assembly or some other group? Employ some method of merit selection?
