The State Board of Education held a budget and strategic planning session Wednesday. Included in that discussion was the budget for the N.C. Department of Public Instruction (DPI). The following PowerPoint slide is an overview of the budget for the current school year:
For some line items, such as contracts, DPI is essentially a pass-through agency. It is also worth mentioning that a portion of the funds that the state receives are designated for oversight of federal programs and mandates.
