According to Business Insider, the average student loan debt per college graduate in North Carolina is around $14,800.  In the Southeast, only Florida ($12,900) and Louisiana ($13,400) were lower.

Utah had the lowest average of the 50 states and D.C., while New Hampshire had the highest.  College graduates in the Northeast get socked (or, more appropriately, sock themselves) with more debt than any other region of the country.
