Russ Roberts is one of the most thoughtful and articulate economists around, whether in rap videos, animated poems, novels, or his weekly EconTalk podcast. A recent conversation he had with Martha Nussbaum on Alexander Hamilton and the choice between service and power, eventually led to this well-phrased reminder on the meaning in the mundane.

A lot of what makes life glorious and real takes place over the breakfast table, at community places like churches, synagogues, and mosques. At associations like food banks where people come together to help other people. And I think we need to remember that and not think it all comes through power and legislation.
