Criticize Congress, not Cheerwine

I’m not sure that Nicole Russell of the Washington Examiner has a valid point that Congress should be efficient instead of passing resolutions, but she goes too far when she denies the goodness of Cheerwine:

First of all, have you ever tasted Cheerwine? It’s like Dr. Pepper and Cherry Coke had a one-night stand and produced this thick, sugar-burn-sweet, abomination to carbonated beverages. It’s part cough-syrup, part-molasses and if you drink more than one can I swear your body will go into apoplectic shock from all the excess sugar and you may end up doing something absurd — like being in Congress.

The cause of her apoplexy? A resolution honoring the 100th anniversary of Cheerwine’s creation. There is plenty to dislike about Congress without chipping away at the bedrock of Carolina culture.
