Most interesting High Point University/News & Record poll:

A majority of North Carolinians generally favor the state setting the standard on a series of policy issues, including discrimination, minimum wage, and environmental protection, instead of cities, according to the first High Point University/News and Record Poll of 2017.

Eighty percent of respondents said that anti-discrimination legislation is better set at the state level. Only 9 percent said it should be done on a local level.

Seventy-seven percent of residents said that environmental protections measures should be set by the state government rather than cities, according to the poll.

Seventy-three percent of respondents said minimum wage should be set by the state, compared to 19 percent who say that cities should be allowed to set these types of rates.

Understood regarding environmental protection—liberals want as much centralized power as possible in that area—but as we all know the liberal trend—in NC cities and elsewhere—is to take wage and discrimination policy upon themselves.

Of course there’s important context here—are the respondents’ answers taking into consideration that eeevil Republicans are in charge of state government? If so, then heads are probably exploding in the editorial offices down on East Market Street.
