Can’t Trust the Highest Bidder

The City of Asheville is advertising for three at-large community visioneers to serve on a committee to determine what ought to be done with a couple city properties. Committees are so last-year, so this committee is being called the Advisory Team (capitalized). As with most city advisory committees, though, there is systematic bias in the self-selection of members who are aligned with the assumptions underlying the creation of the committee, government’s need to grow being one of them. In this case, it is likely nobody will be selected who wants the city to sell the property outright.
