As you surely know, the Haywood County Board of Education wants to close down Central Elementary School. With unlimited resources, this would not have to happen. Therefore (Since I have to explain my jokes, I am using the conjunctive adverb facetiously.), attorney Mark Melrose has threatened to sue, a measure sure to take more money from the school system, but at least it will enrich lawyers.
It would be nice if there was some expectation that the courts would entertain something with substance, like the students coming out of the other schools will be exposed to more risks of delinquency. Instead, courts these days are more open to judging the picayune, as long as they are technical. Therefore, Melrose is suing on the grounds that the school system botched its order of operations in complying with GS 115C-72 and 115C-518(a).
