When one thinks of the military industrial complex the first thing that comes to mind is the weapons industry or companies like bowing that build airplanes, It also brings to mind stories about the DOD paying hundreds of dollars for a hammer. Very few people think of Iowa’s corn and ethanol industries or the US Navy paying $150 for a gallon of motor fuel made from algae to a company that pours millions of dollars into into the coffers of influential politicians. The fact is that the latest addition to the vast crony capitalist infrastructure known as the military industrial complex is the biofuels industry. The Manhattan Institutes Robert Bryce tells the story here.
