Some days, one is left wondering if one ought to return to school to learn how to be offended by buildings. Learning the rights and wrongs of politically-correct architecture can lead to community consent in the War on Universal Ugly. Some high school kid just got shot in Deaverview. Shouldn’t we spend more time legislating taste to empower the flow of positive energy in, of, by, and through heightened awareness of our architectural synergies?
On the one hand, in the commentary in question, the author, a Planning and Zoning Commissioner for the City of Asheville, is taking a minority stance on behalf of marginalized, minority architecture. On the other, she, too, is calling for more regimentation.
