N.C. policymakers should fix problems with state government’s existing health care programs, including Medicaid, before addressing plans to expand or reform Medicaid. Doctors who deal with Medicaid patients on a daily basis should be part of the solution. That was the message Dr. David Stein of Burlington delivered to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society.

Stein and his pediatrician wife, Dr. Rosemary Sanchez Stein, started IFC Pediatrics in 1999. The pediatric clinic is the second-largest Medicaid provider in Alamance County.
