Another misleading headline courtesy of WSOC in Charlotte.

According to WSOC reporter Paige Hansen, parents and teachers are frustrated by stoppage of Common Core.

There is just one problem.  Common Core hasn’t stopped.  Hansen even says so in her story.

Common Core remains in place for the 2014-15 school year.  A standards review commission will evaluate the standards this year and recommend changes for the 2015-16 school year.

There is another problem.  The Hansen did not interview any actual teachers.  Instead, she quotes a parent, Public School Forum president Keith Poston, and CMS superintendent Heath Morrison.

The parent, by the way, says that she it glad that the state plans to assess the standards, “I don’t think there’s ever anything wrong with reflecting on what you’re doing and changing course a little bit, if need be.”  So much for frustration.
