Jennifer Roberts says she’ll run for mayor next year

Does this come as a surprise? No, as she was pushing pretty hard to be the fill-in for the rest of Patrick Cannon’s term.

Can she win? Maybe. Ordinarily, I’d say an African-American candidate is more likely to win the Democratic primary unless the black vote gets split. So kind of an odds against situation for Roberts. However, there’s still so much be don’t know about the FBI investigation into Patrick Cannon and that other ongoing federal investigation into public corruption that it’s just hard to know which other potential candidates might become tainted in the next year.
