After hearing that the North Carolina General Assembly raised per pupil and overall spending on K-12 education, liberals objected, saying that the increases do not keep up with inflation.  It is the only play they have after spending months claiming that the legislature slashed education funding.

But perhaps my friends on the left are on to something.  Perhaps we should tie education spending to inflation and enrollment changes, a Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) for public education.

So, I propose the Stoops Education Spending Index (SESI).  Finally, we can take the guesswork out of the education funding debate and I can have my name in an acronym.
