From the print edition of today’s Charlotte Observer:

In ACC, bigger should be better
New members Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Notre Dame will return basketball focus

Notre Dame? Yes, they are good in men’s basketball at the moment, but when when hears “Notre Dame” the college sport that immediately comes to mind is not hoops.

In any case, the article is available here.

Update: As for the ACC being better, the addition of Pitt, Syracuse, and Notre Dame should definitely help, but a lot depends upon the league’s existing members beside North Carolina and Dook becoming consistently strong. A case in point: Of those 10 other existing members, only one is currently nationally ranked (Virginia) with one other (Boston College) getting any votes at all in the big polls. That’s not at all encouraging.
