This year’s legislative session in North Carolina featured major changes focusing on items such as tax reform, regulatory reform, transportation reform, and education reform. But in that last category, there was very little discussion of reforming higher education.

Jay Schalin, director of policy analysis at the Pope Center for Higher Education Policy, spoke to the John Locke Foundation’s Shaftesbury Society about the importance and difficulty of achieving reforms in colleges and universities. In the video clip below, Schalin explains why conservatives should pay attention to higher education issues.
