Editorial of the year?  How can anyone top this one?

To tell you the truth, our feelings were a little hurt when the news came that actress Claire Danes and her colleagues from the television show “Homeland” were filming in The Charlotte Observer newsroom. The good folks in Charlotte are part of a sister newspaper, of course, in the McClatchy company, but still … then we decided maybe The News & Observer people were too good-looking to be believable in the show.

But this week, of course, the show will be filming in the Capital City, though not in our newsroom. Rumor has it the Showtime network people are looking at a new reality show, “Nightmare on Jones Street,” about a group of GOP legislators who want to cut education, curb Medicaid health aid for the lower-income, cut unemployment benefits and try to establish a state religion.

The only question was whether a general television audience would find it believable. We get that. Sometimes, we don’t believe it ourselves.

Yes, that 159 word yelp is the entire editorial.

It appears that the real nightmare is a few blocks from Jones Street – 215 South McDowell Street, to be exact.
