Western Carolina University wishes to improve student retention rates. This not a measure of how much they retain in their memory, but of whether or not they complete the entire four-year college sentence. That is not to say they must be able to complete a thought with a capital letter, period, noun phrase and verb phrase in proper syntax; rather, that they must submit and kiss up to their superiors enough to get a degree.

That said, should the college attempt to make the kids stick by providing more entertainment and engagement opportunities, or perhaps give them college credit for playing video games instead of studying?
