My friend and occasional Pope Center contributor Martin Morse Wooster writes here about the Packard Foundation. David Packard was a believer in limited government, but the foundation he founded has become an arm of the interventionist, statist left.

This is all too common — an entrepreneur makes a fortune through capitalism and then sets up a philanthropic foundation to do good things, which is then taken over by people intent on using the accumulated wealth to advance their anti-capitalist philosophy.
