Mike Antonucci of the Education Intelligence Agency reports that the National Education Association (NEA) gave $15 million in grants to 94 advocacy groups during the 2011-2012 fiscal year.  I did a cursory review of the list and found two North Carolina-based groups that received NEA funds.

Center for Teaching Quality (Carrboro, NC) – $120,767

Committee for Charlotte 2012 [Democratic National Convention] – $250,000

Media buys, payments to pollsters or consultants, and other types of political spending are not included in this category of expenditures.
