As Ira Stoll notes here, there has been a surge of job creation in a particularly offensive category — government PR flacks. The politicians take our money and use it to hire propagandists who will try to convince us to be happy about the state’s constant and increasing depredations.
Maybe if King George III had hired some people like that, we’d still be flying the Union Jack.
