Politico.com’s “Arena” asked if Republican attacks on U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice were misdirected. John Locke Foundation senior fellow Marc Rotterman responded:

Clearly the president and his administration are “stonewalling” on Benghazi.
First and foremost, it is now obvious that there never was a spontaneous mob that demonstrated outside of our consulate outraged over an obscure anti-Muslim video. What actually happened was a coordinated terrorist attack on September 11 that left four Americans dead.
In a clear dereliction of duty – the Obama administration sat by doing nothing for seven hours that night, ignoring calls to dispatch help from our bases in Italy, less than two hours away. After fumbling the ball and leaving our heroes behind, the president and his team made a calculated decision to call a miss-direction play and to send out Ambassador Rice to perpetuate the myth of anti Muslim video.
In public, President Obama and Secretary Clinton helped perpetuate the myth of the video. Clearly Obama and his team wanted this tragedy swept under the rug until after the election,
The president has an obligation to explain in detail what happened on September 11, 2012 in Benghazi The families of our fallen heroes and the American people deserve answers. Senators McCain and Graham are patriots for seeking the truth.
I only wish the mainstream had as much courage. Where are Woodward and Bernstein when we need them?
