• House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., made campaign stops in North Carolina for GOP congressional candidates David Rouzer (7th District), Robert Pittenger (9th), Mark Meadows (11th), and George Holding (13th).

 

• Republican candidate for governor Pat McCrory received the endorsement of the North Carolina chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business.

 

• Onetime N.C. resident “Sweet Baby James” Taylor will perform at the Uptown Charlotte Labor Day event preceding the Democratic National Convention.

 

• Not only has Vice President Joe Biden planned a trip to the Tampa area during next week’s Republican National Convention, national Democrats are scheduling a series of public events as the RNC goes on, violating the typical “quiet period” parties have afforded each other during their nominating conventions.
