Quite possibly. The Bobcats have won 2 of the 12 games they’ve played this season and just lost by 17 at home to the Detroit Pistons, a team that’s pretty horrible in its own right. You could argue that the Washington Wizards at 1-10 are worse, but the Bobcats have a larger average margin of defeat.

And this is shaping up to be the worst team in Bobcats’ history. In 2004-05, the expansion Bobcats went 18-64, which is a .220 winning percentage. This year’s edition is currently at .167.

Is there hope? This is the NBA, and teams can suck for very long periods of time. Just ask Minnesota Timberwolves fans. At best, the Bobcats are two years away from getting to 32 to the 35 win a season mediocrity that they achieved all but one year from 2006/07 through last season (the exception was their playoff year at 44-38). At worst, they are on the processes of joining the Timberwolves in permanent rebuilding mode.

And in any case, it does not appear that Michael Jordan was the savior that some sportswriters and fans thought he would be.
