Asheville City Council refused to take action on staff recommendations to ban camping on city property. The action was clearly intended to address the huddled masses of pup tents adjacent to city hall. Said tents are inhabited by a general assembly that meets to vision against Wall Street robber barons.

Free camping next to city hall clearly puts private campgrounds at a disadvantage, since one can enjoy the elements for free with city amenities within walking distance. The mass of tents might also obsturb the delicate viewsheds of tourists who would otherwise drop wads of dollars into the local economy.

Council decided to pass the decision-making buck back to the Public Safety Committee, comprised of three members of council. They decided today to recommend permitting camping on city property.
