This morning I heard an intriguing interview with Robin Koerner, a columnist for the Huffington Post and publisher of WatchingAmerica.com (a website with translated articles from other countries regarding current events in the United States). Koerner, like me, is an immigrant here, originally from the United Kingdom, and we met in 2009 while teaching at a liberty camp in Poland. His latest project is BlueRepublican.org, which has now gone viral.

That may seem like a commonplace campaign strategy. However, as they discuss, its success appears to be part of a growing shift in paradigm—away from the fallacious left-versus-right to a people-versus-the-establishment understanding.

Paul referred to this paradigm breakdown during his 2008 campaign, and as further testament, he drew agreement on his key issues from other candidates: Ralph Nader (Independent), Cynthia McKinney (Green), and Chuck Baldwin (Constitution). The shift is also the topic of Declaration of Independents, a book from Nick Gillespie and Matt Welch, of Reason Magazine. As they explain below, it is recalibrating the United States’ political arena.
