This afternoon, the NC Department of Public Instruction and State Board of Education will honor schools and school districts that graduated a high percentage of its students. I think my invitation got lost in the mail.

According to the press release,

Lt. Governor Walter Dalton, State Superintendent June Atkinson and State Board of Education Chairman Bill Harrison along with other staff and dignitaries will recognize local school districts and high schools achieving the state’s top graduation rates at a luncheon event. The recognition ceremong [sic] will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, beginning at 12:45 p.m. at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel, RTP.

The top ten districtwide graduation rates were as follows:

• Elkin City Schools – 91.7%
• Mooresville City Schools – 91.1%
• Camden County Schools – 90.7%
• Dare County Schools – 90.1%
• Union County Public Schools – 89.1%
• Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools – 88.3%
• Watauga County Schools – 87.4%
• Polk County Schools – 87.2%
• Catawba County Schools – 86.2%
• Cherokee County Schools – 86.1%
