The anti-war group the World Can’t Wait (I wondered where they’ve been) protested former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s speech at the Greensboro Coliseum. Blair’s appearance is part of the Bryan Foundation’s lecture series, which is sponsored by Guilford College:
“For supposed peace institution like the Quakers to pay for what I consider to be a war criminal to talk to people and give him a platform like that just seems pretty hypocritical to me,” said Scott Trent, a 1991 Guilford College alumnus.
Note the comment beneath the N&R write-up from ‘Jarhead’ stating that Blair “is the girlieboy that helped Bush become Hitler number two.” OK, Jarhead is no Hank Williams Jr.—-depending on your point of view— but it’s still a reminder how often comparisons to Hitler were tossed around when George W. Bush was president.
As for Hank Jr., I believe his analogy was innocent enough until the evil Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson pressed him, after which he confirmed he indeed was comparing President Obama to Hitler.
