Not a good time for the country’s latest generation of fighter jets. The F-22, the Air Force’s  top fighter jet, has been grounded since early May because of problems with its On-Board Oxygen Generation System. Simply put, the system is poisoning the men and women that fly the F-22. A failure in the system caused the crash of a F-22 last year in Alaska, killing the pilot and destroying the $412 million jet.

The F-35, which is still in development, has been grounded since earlier this month because of a problem with its integrated power package system. The F -35 will eventually be used by the Air Force, Navy, and Marines. The aircraft is well behind schedule and well over its original budget.
