The leftwing site Alternet compiled its list of “The 10 Craziest State Legislatures in America,” and I’m somewhat ashamed that North Carolina’s ranked 9th on that list. Come on, folks, try harder!

The Alternetters were especially upset that the General Assembly had the audacity to limit monopoly power (by restricting the growth of municipal broadband boondoggles) and passing legislation making it easier for employers to make sure newly hired workers are eligible to take jobs legally.

They’re also not happy with the First Amendment, either, as lawmakers worked to repeal a state matching-funds campaign law — a similar version of which from Arizona was struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

So Alternet likes money-wasting government monopolies, lawbreaking employers, and speech-stifling campaigns. And you wonder why independents are abandoning the Left.
